‘The structure ... was great in that it seemed to eventually lead to people being more open to sharing personal experiences.

Changing where people were seated was also a great idea in that it broke up the evening and bought ideas of control, it was interesting to see how people reacted.
— Hugo Egan, participant and artist.

On March 6 2016, thirteen people joined together for Speakeasy#2 as part of the 2016 Festival of Live Art to share food, thoughts and facilitated conversations. The art project prompted participants to talk about place, environments and gentrification with those sitting next to them. sociocreative trust members also orchestrated configurations of the table and took participants outside to share their experiences, creating intimate moments out of the dinner.

What can you bring to the table?

Breaking bread with sociocreative trust for the second sitting of this participatory performance and dinner, with food generously provided in partnership with Feast of Merit.

A homage to the slow food movement and the small and intimate, Speakeasy#2 incorporated art, wellness and sustainability practices through facilitated conversations. The audience is at once dinner guest, performer and audience member at this participatory art project.

Approaching individual perspectives on the environment, gentrification and place, as well as an appetite for further discussion, Speakeasy provides a springboard for deeper investigation, integration of thoughts and themes that arise over the course of the evening.
