With over 15 years’ experience in the creative industries, Gemma is an arts facilitator and creative producer who has worked across Australia, Scotland and Aotearoa New Zealand. She is currently Executive Producer, Projects at the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres which includes leading the strategy, delivery and day-to-day management of the performing arts marketplace Showcase Victoria (on behalf of VAPAC and Regional Arts Victoria), as well as a variety of projects across marketing, audience development and capacity building.
Between 2013 and 2015, Gemma managed the regional music and literary festival WWAF, as well as coordinating the cultural events program at Duneira, Mt Macedon, which delivered over 100 events per year. Prior to that, she held the positions of General Manager at Wild@Heart Community Arts and Arts Administrator at RMIT Creative where she was Secretary of the Arts Council and elected staff member on the Board of Trustees.
In Scotland, Gemma coordinated the Government’s pioneering mentoring program “New Deal for Musicians”, and in New Zealand began her career in the arts as part of the team at The Arts Centre of Christchurch delivering major festivals and events.
In 2015, Gemma’s interest in NFP leadership and governance saw her complete a Graduate Diploma in Community Sector Management at RMIT, and in 2016 she was invited to sit on the board of the newly established philanthropic organisation The Macfarlane Fund which offers financial support across the career span of visual artists and seeks to challenge established models of giving.
In 2016 Gemma was Production & Location Coordinator on the feature film Video Report (working title) due for release in 2019.
